Redstone wins awards
DENVER – At the annual Colorado Press Women’s annual communications awards banquet held in May, the Redstone Review, editor and publisher Susan de Castro McCann, and columnist Natalie Costanza-Chavez won numerous awards.
De Castro McCann won a first place for news reporting in a non-daily newspaper; a first place for a feature story in a non-daily newspaper and a first place for the Redstone Review newspaper, a non-daily publication regularly edited by the candidate. She won a second place for a feature story, a second place for a on going stories in a series; a third place for a feature story and an honorable mention for a feature story taking all the awards in the feature story category. She was one point away from being the 2007 Colorado Sweepstakes winner.
Costanza-Chavez, a columnist in the Redstone Review writes under the heading Grace. She won a first place for opinion/editorial, and first, third and three honorable mention awards for personal columns, a virtual sweep of that category. Her winning columns appeared the Ft. Collins Coloradoan in 2006. Costanza-Chavez did not start writing for the Redstone until 2007.
All of the first-place winning entries are automatically entered into the National Federation of Press Women Communications Contest to be held in Richmond, VA. In September.
